About Xymid, LLC ...
Formed on October 1, 1998, Xymid, LLC consists of four new and growing
businesses created by the DuPont Company. The majority ownership and management
of Xymid, LLC held various leadership roles in these businesses within
the DuPont organization. The following are brief descriptions of the four
businesses that make up Xymid, LLC.
Xymid®
Xymid® is an innovative, proprietary technology used to make fabrics
with properties and characteristics not found in traditional wovens, knits
or nonwovens. Xymid® customized technical fabrics combine bulkable
yarns and nonwoven substrates to produce durable fabrics with unique stretch/elasticity,
moldability, strength, absorbency, and/or thermal properties.
The versatility of the Xymid® technology allows a variety of different
fibers to be used in one fabric. This results in a truly multi-functional
fabric system. Xymid® fabrics are used in a variety of end-uses including
bedding, coating and laminating substrates, and thermal protection.
One group of Xymid® products that exhibits exceptional durability
and wear resistance is called Wearforce. Wearforce products
can either be fabrics or resin impregnated composites. They offer high
value and superior performance, in end-uses such as work and duty boots,
in-line skates, sporting goods, gloves and protective apparel.
PRINT SLEEVES
Xymid, LLC print sleeves are polyester based products that are used primarily in the flexographic printing industry as a plate carrier. The composite construction creates a durable product that resists cracking and splitting. The Xymid print sleeves are available in a wide range of thicknesses allowing printers to run longer repeat lengths on existing print cylinders. Flexographic printing plates are mounted to the sleeves offline then the sleeves are mounted onto print cylinders using compressed air to expand them, allowing them to slide onto the cylinder.
The benefits of using Xymid print sleeves include alleviating the time, cost, and plate damage associated with remounting plates for repeat print runs. The plates remain mounted on the print sleeves and are stored until the print job is required for subsequent runs. Depending upon the number of repeat lengths, Xymid sleeves can be nested before storing to maximize storage space.
TYWIK®
Tywik® is a registered trademark for an FDA compliant* material specifically
designed to absorb large amounts of grease during the cooking of meats
(approximately 13 times it own weight). Tywik® is comprised of a porous
spunbonded polyester outer nonwoven bonded to a highly absorbent polyester
pad. The most visible commercial application is the absorbent pad in Hormel's
"Microwave Ready Bacon."

LANX®
LANX® is a durable composite fabric containing polymerically encapsulated
carbon for the adsorption of chemical warfare agents. The LANX® Chemical
Protective Undergarment is the only undergarment approved for use by the
U.S. Military and meets the requirements of military specification MIL-U-44435.
LANX® fabrics feature excellent stretch properties for good fit and mobility,
air permeability which promotes evaporative cooling (reducing heat stress),
and enhanced fire protection. LANX® fabrics are launderable and have a
superior shelf life. Our product line includes undergarments, glove liners,
boot liners, balaclavas, overgarments and gloves.
