TECHNICAL BULLETIN #: 01-011607
SUBJECT: Recommended Tools and Methods for removing Plates and Tape from Xymid Print Sleeves to Avoid Cutting.
OBJECTIVE: Optimize the life of the Print Sleeve by eliminating the opportunity for cuts, slices and gashes.
ISSUE: During the course of removing plates and mounting tape from Xymid Print Sleeves, the sleeve may be cut due to over-exertion while using a box cutter style razor.
SOLUTION:
1) Modify the point on a box cutter razor blade. Using sandpaper to remove the tip of a box cutter razor blade displaces the cutting surface weight and makes the sleeve less susceptible to cutting.

2) Use a minimal amount of force. Mounting tapes do not require a great deal of force to cut and remove. Perform the cutting process with a minimum amount of pressure on the tape or plate.
3) Use an OLFA Knife. The OLFA knife has a round cutting surface exactly like a pizza cutter and has no sharp points. This style knife makes an excellent alternative to a modified box cutter.
